In 1973, Antonio and Urbano Sartori founded “S2 srl Prefabbricati per mobili”, a small workshop using cutting-edge machinery for the time. It was in this small basement that wood soon became the leading material. Amid to their attention to detail and their quality of cabinet making, the local furniture makers started entrusting S2 with their projects.
From semi-finished goods suppliers to finished products makers for the design industry
In the 80s the furniture sector was booming as the whole economy. Right in the year 1980 the company acquired the first plot of land on the Fermignano industrial estate. This was a dream come true for the two brothers who had left their workshop in the outskirts of the town. And this is when Knoll, an international design-icons manufacturer, visited the small company, which led to the start of their first important collaboration.
In the 90s, the need to supply finished products of an increasingly high quality led S2 to install a varnishing department.
The first varnishing robot came in in 1995. This was later followed by the first automated, 3 and 5-axle work centres for milling, drilling and edging straight and moulded elements. Nel 1995 viene introdotto il robot di verniciatura e successivamente i primi centri di lavoro a controllo numerico per lavorazioni di fresatura, foratura, bordatura a 3 e 5 assi per piani lineari e sagomati.
A single-cycle varnishing plant
At the turn of the century, the company installed one of the most advanced varnishing machines in Europe: a 200-mt-long line with 53 integrated machines for both large and small production lots, all with a superior quality.
In 2005, alongside woodworking, the company introduced an automated line for varnishing and polishing of marble surfaces. The production unit was quickly expanded with two, 5-axle CNC systems for the in-house processing of slabs. In order to guarantee the best quality supplies, the block purchases were finalized directly in the mines.
Thanks to the technical skills acquired over the years, such as R&D, 3D design, engineering, and prototyping, new complex projects were contracted to S2, as custom-made hotels, luxury residences and public spaces.
